Privacy policy

• You can read every guide without an account or giving us your name or email.
• We only get your name or email if you send it to us: through the contact form, a comment, the email signup or an advertising brief.
• We use Google Analytics to count visits. Our ad partner Mediavine shows ads that may be based on your browsing. Both use cookies.
• We don’t sell your name or email address to anyone. You can opt out of personalized ads and ask us to see, correct or delete what we hold about you.
• We don’t take payments on Tech Junctions, so we never collect card or bank details.

Tech Junctions (referred to as “the Company”, “We”, “Us” or “Our” in this Policy) is a website of guides for people setting up, fixing and fine-tuning the TV they own. It is run by its founder, Aman Singh. Tech Junctions is based in India. “You” means anyone who visits the site.

Information you give us

• Contact form. Your name, email address, the subject and your message, plus the type of request you choose. We store it in our database so we can read and answer it. No copy is sent to an email service.
• Comments. Your name, email address and comment. Your name and comment are shown publicly once the comment is approved; your email address never is.
• Email signup. Your email address, stored in our database. We haven’t chosen an email-sending service yet. We’ll name it in this policy before we send any email.
• Advertising briefs. Your name, email address, the brand or company you represent and the details of your campaign, if you send one through our advertise page.

Information collected automatically

• Usage data. Pages you visit, how long you stay, the page that sent you here, your browser and device type, and your approximate location (city or region), collected by Google Analytics. If you turn analytics off, Google Analytics sets no cookies and keeps no identifier for you; it only receives anonymous, cookieless signals (such as that a page was viewed) that help Google estimate visit counts.
• Advertising data. Cookie and device identifiers, your IP address and the pages you view, collected by Mediavine and its advertising partners to show and measure ads. See Advertising.
• Technical data. Our hosting provider, Vercel, processes your IP address and request details in its server logs to deliver pages and protect the site from abuse. Our forms also use your IP address briefly, in memory, to limit how many submissions can be sent in a short time; it isn’t saved with your message, comment or signup.

When you click a product link, we count the click against that product. The count is stored without your IP address or anything else that identifies you.

We don’t take payments on Tech Junctions. There is no checkout, subscription or paid account, so we never collect card or bank details.

Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. We and our partners use them, along with similar tools such as local storage, for the purposes below.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site still works without them, though some features, such as saved favorites, won’t.

The ads on Tech Junctions are served by Mediavine, an advertising company. Mediavine and the advertisers and ad technology companies it works with use cookies and similar technologies to collect information about your visits to this and other websites, so they can show ads that may interest you and measure how ads perform. We don’t choose the individual ads you see. Mediavine also runs Grow.me, which lets you save favorite guides.

Opting out of personalized ads

• Use the Digital Advertising Alliance opt-out or the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out.
• Change your Google ad settings at adssettings.google.com.
• On a phone, turn on “Limit Ad Tracking” (iPhone) or delete your advertising ID (Android) in your device’s privacy settings.

Opting out doesn’t remove ads. You’ll still see them, but they won’t be based on your browsing.

We also sell two kinds of placement directly to brands: a Sponsored Post and a Sidebar Display Slot. Both are always labeled; our sponsorship policy explains how. Brands that buy them don’t receive any information about you from us.

Some guides link to products on Amazon and other stores. As an Amazon Associate, Tech Junctions earns from qualifying purchases. When you click one of these links, the store may set its own cookie to record that you came from Tech Junctions, so it can pay us a commission if you buy. The store’s own privacy policy covers what happens there.

Stores send us totals, such as the number of orders, not your name, address or what you bought. Our affiliate disclosure has more.

• To reply to your message and keep a record of it.
• To publish and moderate comments.
• To send the emails you signed up for, once we start sending them.
• To reply to advertising briefs and arrange campaigns.
• To understand which guides people read so we can fix and improve them.
• To show ads, which keep the site free to read.
• To keep the site secure, stop spam and meet our legal obligations.

We don’t sell your name, email address or messages. We share information only with:

• Service providers that run the site for us: Vercel (hosting), Supabase (our database, where messages, comments, email signups and advertising briefs are stored, and the sign-in system for administrators), Cloudflare (image storage and delivery) and Google (analytics). They may use the information only to provide their service to us.
• Advertising partners, through Mediavine, as described under Advertising.
• Authorities, if the law requires it or it’s needed to protect our rights, our readers or the public.
• A new owner, if the site is sold or merged. This policy would still apply to information collected under it.

Under some US state laws, letting ad partners collect information through cookies to personalize ads can count as “selling” or “sharing” personal information. See Your privacy choices for how to opt out.

• Contact messages and advertising briefs: up to 2 years after our last reply, then we delete them.
• Comments: as long as the comment is on the site. Comments we don’t publish, and comments we remove, are deleted within 30 days.
• Email signups: until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove you. We remove you within 30 days of your request.
• Analytics data: 14 months, after which Google deletes it.
• Server logs: kept by Vercel for a short period under its own retention rules.
• Backups: our encrypted database backups are deleted after 30 days.

You can ask us to delete your information sooner at any time.

When you first visit Tech Junctions, a banner asks how we may use cookies. You can accept all cookies, reject the ones we don’t need, or choose for yourself. You can change your choice at any time with the “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” link at the bottom of every page. Turning off “Sale or sharing for targeted ads” opts you out of the sale or sharing of your personal information for targeted advertising. We also honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal: if your browser sends it, we treat it as that opt-out automatically.

You can also:

• Block or delete cookies in your browser.
• Opt out of personalized ads using the links under Advertising.
• Stop Google Analytics with Google’s opt-out browser add-on.
• Unsubscribe from our emails by asking us through the contact page. Every email we send will also include an unsubscribe link.

Depending on where you live, including California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas and other states with privacy laws, you may have the right to:

• Know what personal information we hold about you.
• Get a copy of it.
• Correct it if it’s wrong.
• Have it deleted.
• Opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of your personal information, and of targeted advertising.

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), a “consumer” is a natural person who is a California resident. We extend these rights to every reader, wherever you live. We won’t treat you differently for using them.

How to make a request

Use our contact page and choose “Privacy or data request”. Tell us what you’d like us to do and the email address you used with us. We’ll confirm the request came from you by writing to that address, then respond within 45 days. An authorized agent can make a request for you with your written permission.

If we turn down your request, we’ll explain why. You can appeal by replying to our decision, and we’ll respond to the appeal within 60 days.

If you’re in the European Union, the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or the UK GDPR applies to your information. Tech Junctions is the controller of your information.

Why we’re allowed to use it

• Consent: analytics and advertising cookies, and email signups. You can withdraw consent at any time.
• Legitimate interests: replying to messages, moderating comments, keeping the site secure and stopping spam.
• Steps before a contract: replying to advertising briefs.
• Legal obligation: keeping records the law requires.

Your rights

You can ask to access, correct or delete your information, restrict or object to how we use it, and get a copy in a portable format. You can withdraw consent at any time without affecting earlier use. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.

International transfers

Our providers process information in the United States and other countries, and we access it from India. Where the law requires, they rely on safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.

India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act) applies to how we handle your personal data. Tech Junctions is the Data Fiduciary. We use your data only for the purposes in this policy, with your consent or for the legitimate uses the Act allows, such as replying to a message you send us. You can:

• Ask for a summary of the personal data we hold about you and how we use it.
• Ask us to correct, complete, update or erase it.
• Withdraw your consent at any time, as easily as you gave it.
• Nominate someone to exercise these rights for you if you die or become unable to.
• Raise a grievance with us.

Grievance officer

Aman Singh, Founder, handles privacy grievances. Use our contact page and choose “Privacy or data request”. We’ll respond within the time the Act and its rules allow. If you’re not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India.

“Do Not Track” is a browser setting with no agreed standard, so we don’t respond to it. Global Privacy Control (GPC) is different: it’s recognized under California law as a request to opt out of the sale or sharing of your information. We honor GPC: if your browser sends it, we treat it as an opt-out of the sale or sharing of your personal information for targeted advertising, as described under Your privacy choices.

Tech Junctions is written for adults and isn’t directed at children under 13. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us information, tell us through the contact page and we’ll delete it.

The site runs over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, and access to the information we store is limited to the site’s administrators. No system is completely secure, so we can’t guarantee it.

Your information is stored with our service providers: Vercel (hosting and server logs), Supabase (database) and Cloudflare (images), on servers in the United States and other countries where they operate. Google Analytics data is stored by Google. Tech Junctions is based in India, so our team may access information from India. We protect it the same way wherever it’s handled.

Our guides link to other websites, such as manufacturers and stores. Their privacy policies apply once you leave Tech Junctions, and we aren’t responsible for how they handle your information.

When we change this policy, we update the date at the top of the page. If a change affects how we use information you’ve already given us, we’ll say so on this page before it takes effect.
